Trail Description |
Single track running parallel to the Natchez Trace Recreational Highway from Leiper's Fork to Columbia, TN. There are 2 trailheads. The Northern trailhead has a creek running back of the parking lot. There are also bathrooms here. Room for about 15-20 rigs. The Southern trailhead has a water trough and spigot (that wasn't working last time I went). Parking is a grassy pull off. Room for 10-15 rigs if squeezed. Trails are spurts of short hills. Some natural rock. In the summer there is little to no water on the trail towards the southern end. More up closer to the northern end. If you want to go the whole way, your horse MUST be ok near cars. The trail winds in and out of the woods very close to the highway. Sometimes you're riding right beside the road. Motorcycles frequently cruise on gorgeous days, so just be warned. Bicylists also frequent the road way. The trail crosses the road, but only on spur streets under the highway. When in woods, the trails are mostly single-track, but plenty of room to get over in the woods to be passed if necessary. Very nice trail, but in somewhat disrepair the further south you go. Pretty bad at the south end for briars in the summer. |
